PROGRAM

Mirrors of Identity

Led by Jorge Luis Somarriba
Learn how to create a Construction box from concept to completion, inspired by personal, social, or universal subjects related to life, nature, philosophy, spirituality, history, and/or the universe. The purpose of the Construction box is to be human, and to embrace our collective humanity! It is to leave a creative record of our examined existence within a specific context of time and space. It is to communicate and share feelings, ideas, and experiences in a personal way, yet with a universal appeal. This workshop invites participants to intuitively explore the cultural language of symbolism inherent in daily objects; to repurpose, recycle, and compose 3-D collages with found objects by methodically and harmoniously encapsulating them in a Construction box.
