Acoustic Folk Guitar Camp

This folk guitar camp invites players into the heart of group music-making: listening, arranging, and finding a meaningful part for every person in the room. Led by Gregg Daigle and Mike Finders, this experience will focus on building strong, flexible guitar arrangements for folk songs, traditional repertoire, and community singing.
Rather than treating the guitar as only a strumming instrument, we will explore how rhythm, bass motion, chord voicings, simple melodic fills, dynamics, and capo choices can help shape a song. Students will learn how to support a singer, create introductions and endings, vary textures from verse to verse, and build arrangements that serve the song rather than crowd it.
A central theme of the camp will be inclusion. In any good folk setting, different players bring different strengths: some hold down the groove, some add color, some sing, some listen deeply and help the whole group stay together. We will work on practical ways to make ensemble playing welcoming, musical, and accessible, so that players from beginners to experienced players can contribute with confidence.
