Mastering the Art of Enviromental Portraits & Landscape – G200926

Workshop ID: G200926
Dates: September 12 - September 18
Price: $775.00 - $1,540.00

Learn to master the photographic arts to create powerful environmental portraits and landscapes. How often have you found yourself inspired by the majesty of a magnificent vista or enticed to capture an inspiring environment scene and have found yourself frustrated with the photographic results? You see it and feel it but the final photograph always seems to fall short. Or do you have people whose faces inspire you and you want to include them in their environment to help tell their story but once again are frustrated by the results?

In this course, we delve deeply into every aspect of creating masterpiece images. By the end of the workshop, you will have learned to choose the correct camera equipment and proper settings that will help you accomplish the creation of your personal vision. No longer will camera settings, lighting and lens choices, composition and color management be a baffling hit or miss experience. Leave fully equipped to handle any situation you may encounter in your photographic pursuits.

In addition, learn to incorporate both portable lighting and available light. Create crystal clear razor-sharp landscapes and evocative environmental portraits. We will examine the work of the great master photographers. Analyze their work and learn to incorporate their techniques into our personal style. We will then strike out to capture the grand Vistas of the Ghost Ranch and surround Lake Abiquiu area combining landscape photography and the creating of environmental portraits with these vistas as backdrops.

So many great portraitists have used the New Mexico scenery to create extraordinary images including Alfred Stieglitz, Ansel Adams Arnold Newman, John Loengard, Philippe Halsman, and Yousuf Karsh. You may ask who will be our subjects. The answer is, we all will be our subjects. We will create environmental portraits of each other so that when you leave you will have a memento of this great experience of you, your camera and the New Mexico landscape.

Come prepared to be stretched and to work hard at mastering the medium. It doesn’t matter where you are in your photographic development come prepared to grow to the next level. If you are just beginning the journey or if you have been a passionate lover of photography as an art form there will be much for you to come away with.
