Painting Plein Air in Pastel – formerly Cliff and Cloud: Plein Air in Pastel- G211019 Oct 3-9

This workshop is full. Painting Plein Air in Pastel in New Mexico! What better place than Ghost Ranch to hone your plein air chops with the grand vistas and beautiful, endlessly interesting skies.

Prepare to spend a week, learning how to capture the essence of your view through demonstration and one on one guidance. Composition, value and temperature (color) are at the core of all my classes.  And painting outdoors gives you the truest sense of those components.

Begin by discussing some helpful tips and tricks of how to set yourself up for your best plein air experience and talk about how to zero in on your subject out in the field.  There will be a focus on Painting Plein Air in Pastel for this class but certainly, any oil, acrylic or watercolor painters that would like to join are welcome.  The tools for a great painting are the same no matter the medium

Studio time is included to discuss what we have done in the field, and there will be time to fine-tune our awesome efforts!

From new instructor, Natasha Isenhour: I’m so honored to have the opportunity to teach you!  As we all know sometimes things have to be shifted around. Juliana Crownover is graciously taking the place of an instructor that had to withdraw from teaching for Masters Week in August, so I have been asked to teach this plein air class in Juliana’s place in October!

As a New Mexico artist, I spent a month in residency at Ghost Ranch in the Fall of 2020, lead the Artists in Residence program for the month of August 2021 and will be back in residency for a month during the time I will be teaching this class.  I’ll also be on faculty for the Plein Air Convention and Expo in Santa Fe for 2022.  So I hope you’ll join me to share a unique and wonderful perspective on this magical place.

You will need to bring your own materials.  Please see the welcome letter PDF for more details and my contact information.  You can also see more of my work and resume at http://www.natashaisenhour.com

During Covid safety period - single occupancy lodging is the standard
  • During Covid-19 periods, all lodging types will be single occupancy at no additional charge. Of course, you can share a room with a spouse, partner, family or another person that shares your full-time residence. The extra folks that share a room will pay for workshop registration fees and meals.
What is the difference between a room with private bath, a room with semi-private or shared bath, and a room with communal/dorm bath?

Private bath refers to the type of bathroom, not single occupancy

Private Bath Room: There is a bathroom in that one room that is not shared between or with any other rooms. The highest rate tier of Ghost Ranch lodging.

Semi-private/shared: There is a bathroom between two rooms that is shared by the occupants of the two adjoining sleeping rooms. These rooms will only be used as family or group suites, not to be shared by unknown neighbors as in the past.

Communal/dorm: There is a communal bathroom/shower in the lodging building and participants will need to exit their room to reach these facilities.
