Watercolor II: Beyond the Basics with Patsy Welch – G26070302

Date

Jul 19 – 25 2026

This is a workshop for those who have had a beginning watercolor class, and would like to take the next step beyond the basics of watercolor. We will experiment with salt, rubbing alcohol, sea sponges and candle wax to find new ways to create the wide array of textures we see at Ghost Ranch. With the use of masking fluid, we learn how to keep areas of our paper white.

Along with painting the gorgeous landscape here, we will explore ways to paint the fabulous clouds as well.

There is a slightly vicious rumor going around that says watercolor mistakes cannot be corrected, but in this workshop we will learn how to correct our painting mistakes (at least most of them)!
