Sashiko Embroidery with Nicki Stewart – G26030410
Have you ever wanted to learn about Sashiko Embroidery? This incredible technique was invented in northern Japan out of the need for repair and to strengthen work clothes and home goods. Sashiko means ‘little stab’ or ‘little pierce’ in Japanese and is a beautiful way to create designs with stitches. In this class, you’ll learn the foundations of Sashiko stitching: equipment and tools for getting going and the basic techniques for Sashiko embroidery.
After we get the basics down and have a good handle on technique and fibers, we’ll dive into a detailed tea towel project that showcases a specific pattern. We’ll also spend time exploring chart reading and trying out several different techniques together. You’ll leave with several Sashiko samplers and a complete tea towel.
This workshop is suitable for complete beginners and those with embroidery experience.
