Specific psychological skills and beliefs impact the quality of life for adults over 40. For example, research out of Yale University reveals that optimistic adults are diagnosed with dementia at half the rate of a control group. Adults with a robust sense of personal resilience enjoy multiple benefits including fewer chronic health problems, more independence in daily living, lower incidence of depression and longer lifespans. Researchers at the San Francisco VA Hospital conclude that half of all Alzheimer’s cases are avoidable.
The workshop will explore critical psychological factors that impact the quality of life for aging adults. These factors begin to shape critical life outcomes from age 40.
The workshop will explore the nature and the role of psychological factors that are typically not in conscious awareness. Noted brain expert Stanford Professor David Eagleman declared: “The conscious self thinks that it is the captain of the ship, but in truth, it is nothing more than a stowaway.”
Participants will leave with a concrete plan to shape psychological factors that will impact the rest of their lives.
