Navigating Paths of Transition
Led by Jeannie Bowman
This course draws on the personal experience of trained educator and spiritual director Jeannie Bowman, as well as her professional practice supporting people through periods of transition and change. Throughout her many years as an educator and spiritual director, Jeannie has focused her work on navigating major life changes—including living with debilitating illness through her work with cancer patients, transitioning from employment into retirement, experiencing the loss of a close relationship, and confronting the many challenges emerging as we move beyond the isolation and fears of the coronavirus pandemic.
Today, we find ourselves entering a world increasingly shaped by climate change, war, social division, and uncertainty. This course offers an opportunity to explore how we can navigate these profound transitions with greater awareness, resilience, and spiritual grounding.
You’ll learn practical and useful strategies for moving through a transition such as: coping skills, spiritual practices, honoring the in-between, , ç, rituals for letting go, meditation practices, and writing exercises. By supporting the physical, mental and spiritual aspects of the self, you’ll find the process of transition easier and more joyful.

About the Leader
Jeannie Bowman
Jeannie Bowman is a wife, a mother, a contemplative — happily living in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Her background includes Quaker educator, practice as spiritual companion, worship and retreat leader, and spiritual formation teacher. She is a graduate of the Hesychia School of Spiritual Direction, Tucson, AZ.
Prayer, scripture studies, Quaker clearance committees, liturgy, and sacred music have developed her heart for holy listening and discernment of the Spirit at work in herself and in the lives of those with whom she is engaged in spiritual direction experiences. Journaling is a part of her daily spiritual discipline.
She is a member of Spiritual Directors International, an Elder in the Presbyterian Church (PCUSA), enjoys facilitating cancer support workshop A New Song to Sing (Linda L. Loving), is a Ghost Ranch faculty member, and an avid handbell ringer. When she is not teaching or ringing, you will likely find her walking a familiar trail, working in her garden, or having tea with a friend.
