High Fire Reductions: Stoneware/Porcelain – G210847

The focus of this week is on cone 10 reduction firing using a modified porcelain/stoneware body. We will have two full days to work with the wet clay. All work must be built by Tuesday evening. Wednesday we will spend the morning doing finishing touches and then force drying our pieces. We will do our bisque firing starting at 3PM on Wednesday afternoon and it will go into the night.

The bisque kilns will be unloaded on Thursday. There will be a glaze lecture in the morning then we will glaze the bisque pieces. They will go into the kiln by 3 or 4PM on Thursday afternoon. The firing will go into the night. We will do a great deal of our clean up on Friday morning while the kiln is cooling. Our kiln opening will be around 3PM on Friday afternoon and all pieces will be packed up and taken to the Art Show on Friday evening.

The packaging materials will then be used to pack things for transport home after the show when we say our final good byes. If there are any questions or anyone would like to know more about how the week will be laid out, please do not hesitate to contact me. bcampbell@valornet.com

During Covid safety period - single occupancy lodging is the standard
  • During Covid-19 periods, all lodging types will be single occupancy at no additional charge. Of course, you can share a room with a spouse, partner, family or another person that shares your full-time residence. The extra folks that share a room will pay for workshop registration fees and meals.
What is the difference between a room with private bath, a room with semi-private or shared bath, and a room with communal/dorm bath?

Private bath refers to the type of bathroom, not single occupancy

Private Bath Room: There is a bathroom in that one room that is not shared between or with any other rooms. The highest rate tier of Ghost Ranch lodging.

Semi-private/shared: There is a bathroom between two rooms that is shared by the occupants of the two adjoining sleeping rooms. These rooms will only be used as family or group suites, not to be shared by unknown neighbors as in the past.

Communal/dorm: There is a communal bathroom/shower in the lodging building and participants will need to exit their room to reach these facilities.
