Join us for a robust week of reflection on faith and life —guided by CS Lewis’ “Mere Christianity”.
Lewis’ book has proven itself capable of awakening faith in skeptics and deepening faith among believers of every stripe. Geneticist Dr. Francis Collins, Chuck Colson, Sheldon Vanauken, Bishop Robert Barron, Lee Strobel are just a few of those who bear personal witness to this.
Kathleen Norris, in her forward to the Harper edition, describes the book as “bold act of storytelling and healing in world gone mad.”
The book began as a series of BBC broadcasts, delivered from 1942 to 1944, during the anguish of World War II. Broadly welcomed by the war-weary British, the broadcasts were collected and published in 1952 –as “Mere Christianity”. Over the last seventy-five years, it’s become (and remains!) a classic of Christian apologetics –simply one of most popular books on the Christian faith ever written.
This is a week to devote yourself to engaging faith and life with both your mind and heart.
If you’ve never read Lewis, here’s a welcome step into his writings; if you’re a lover of his books, you already know that they’re worthy of another read!

Dr. Jim Miller
Dr. Jim Miller served as the Pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Tulsa for thirty-one years, retiring last October. For many years he led a class here at Ghost Ranch that became known as the Oklahoma Family Camp, but many, living far beyond Oklahoma, joined us each summer.
Jim earned his Ph.D. in New Testament Studies from the University of Edinburgh; his dissertation on the Pastoral Letters was published by Cambridge University Press. For four years early in his career, he taught in the Greek Department at Wheaton College, and is currently serving as an adjunct New Testament professor at the Dubuque Theological Seminary in Iowa.
He is passionate about engaging folks from all backgrounds on questions of faith and life, drawing upon his experiences as both a pastor and a teacher.
