This class is all about creating three-dimensional vessels out of fusible art glass. Candy dishes, soap dishes, boxes and vases. There will be time to add jewelry, nightlights and keyrings as well. Ghost Ranch has all the basic tools and all of the consumable supplies that you will need for the week. The cost of these is included in your registration fee. Experienced glass fusers will find plenty of techniques and supplies to try something new. Because of limited kiln space and time for firing, work on jewelry and ornament size projects as well as bowls and slumped objects up to 5?.

What day/time does the workshop start and end?

In-person workshops begin with check-in at 3:00 p.m. and a ranch orientation in the evening on the first date listed for the course and end at 10:00 a.m. with checkout on the last date listed.

Virtual workshops will have a varied schedule that is identified within each workshop description.

During Covid safety period - single occupancy lodging is the standard
  • During Covid-19 periods, all lodging types will be single occupancy at no additional charge. Of course, you can share a room with a spouse, partner, family or another person that shares your full-time residence. The extra folks that share a room will pay for workshop registration fees and meals.
What is the difference between a room with private bath, a room with semi-private or shared bath, and a room with communal/dorm bath?

Private refers to the type of bathroom, not single occupancy

  • During Covid-19, all rooms will have a private bath. Semi-private and Communal/dorm types will be assigned a bathroom for each person.
    • Private: There is a bathroom in that one room that is not shared between or with any other rooms.
    • Semi-private/shared: There is a bathroom between two rooms that is shared by the occupants of the two adjoining rooms.
    • Communal/dorm: There is a communal bathroom/showers in the lodging building (or in a proximate building, for some upper mesa dorm rooms), and participants will need to exit their room to reach these facilities.

  • Katrina Jameson
    Katrina Jameson

Katrina has always loved art. As a child, she learned to draw and paint from her parents and grandparents. In college she studied pottery and airbrush painting. She worked for six summers as a camp counselor at a Girl Scout Camp in New Mexico where she taught tie dye, batik, screen printing, pottery and jewelry making.

Looking for a new creative outlet, Katrina attended the Ghost Ranch, Abiquiu, New Mexico class “Fused Glass is Hot!” with Olive Smith in 2009, 2010 and part of Family Camp in 2011 and 2012. She fell in love with glass as an art medium and set up her ceramic kiln to fuse glass. She creates one of a kind jewelry with fusible art glass, recycled window glass and dichroic glass with unique inclusions. She has taken advanced fused glass classes from internationally known instructors such as Tanja Veit, David Alcala, Gil Reynolds, Peggy Pettigrew Stewart, Dennis Brady and Kent Lauer. Her hobby turned into Mariposa Treasures, LLC in September 2011. She continues to grow her jewelry making technique with silversmithing classes at Ghost Ranch, Four Corners Gem and Mineral Club, and Durango Art Center’s TOP Jewels classes with Tim McCreight and Deb Karash.
