Fall Writing Festival 2018
Sunday, October 7 to Saturday, October 13, 2018 The Ghost Ranch Fall Writing Festival began in 1997 with three classes and has grown to include classes in a variety of genres including poetry, fiction and nonfiction, spiritual writing, essay, children’s literature, playwriting, songwriting, travel writing, memoir and even letter writing.
Workshop groups are small, typically seven to twelve people. Classes meet for three morning hours, with optional craft lectures, panels, presentations and readings in the afternoons and evenings. Hiking, landscape tours and field trips enrich the experience.
Fall Writing Festival instructors come from all over the country. Along with a national reputation, each brings years of experience mentoring both beginning and established writers—and a willingness to meet with students one-on-one. Classes bond. Friendships that begin at Ghost Ranch last a lifetime. For many, the Fall Writing Festival becomes an annual reunion.
What Ghost Ranch writers have created, over the years, is a testament and a tribute to the power of place—this particular place—to inspire introspection, advocacy, the recording of history and elegy.
