Winter Arts Through Papermaking with Chauncey Foster – G25010201
The Ghost Ranch Winter Residency is 10-Day Program focuses on the exploration of papermaking, fiber arts, and journal creation through a variety of hands-on workshops and collaborative projects. Participants will begin with foundational papermaking techniques and progress to advanced methods, including embossing and cyanotype printing. They’ll learn bookbinding and patch-making, integrating these skills into personal and collective projects.
The program encourages creativity and self-expression, with dedicated time for participants to develop their own projects alongside group activities. The final days culminate in presentations of both personal and collective works, celebrating the artistic journey and fostering a sense of community among participants. They transform discarded textiles into cold-pressed handmade paper and build journals that serve as vessels for memory, creativity, and exploration.
Through workshops and residencies, Chauncey invites participants of all backgrounds to engage in papermaking, bookbinding, and creative writing. Their practice emphasizes embedding meaningful fabrics—such as old clothing or personal scraps—into handmade paper, turning materials with histories into art.
