Somatic Writing: Accessing the Wisdom of Our Bodies with Carrie Nassif – G26100102
Spend the week leaning into the physical realm of the body, where our sensory perceptions are encoded into memory, and where our sense of self emerges from emotional encounters. See how paying close attention to lived experience empowers us to write with greater depth and evokes more resonance for the reader. Feel nourished by inspirational readings, powerful embodiment exercises, unusual writing prompts to tie it all together, and time in class devoted to generative writing. Be prepared to intentionally explore your (many more than five) bodily senses with gentle grounding movement, guided imagery, observation practices, and hiking through some of Ghost Ranch’s most beautiful country (weather permitting). Best suited to short-form work like poetry, flash fiction, or focusing on specific scenes within longer-form genres.
