Animated Stained Glass with Joseph Cavalieri – G26080401

Date

Aug 23 – 29 2026

We begin this fun week-long class by drawing out a design for a panel, or a series of smaller panels. With Joseph’s guidance you will learn how to develop this idea into a full size sketch on paper, choose and cut glass, then copper foil and soldier to make a colorful wall hung stained glass panel measuring about ten by ten inches.

In the past classes Joseph taught at Ghost Ranch, students made many works while they made some very fun friends, and had time to enjoy the environment.

Your designs can be based on a favorite cartoon figure, flowers, or even an abstract design. You can be inspired by a favorite theme of past work you would like to continue in glass or an existing image found online that you translate to a stained glass panel. Simply think about a design that excites you!

All materials are provided. If you have a favorite stained glass tool or glass feel free to bring it to class. Please bring a few sheets or pad of 11×17 white paper, a pencil and black sharpie pen. No open toe shoes please.

This class is perfect for beginners and students with experience. Joseph will also be presenting a demonstration on how he frames and lights his painted stained glass art.
