Intro to Pastel Painting with Natasha Isenhour – G25110101

Nov 03 – 08 2025

Have you wanted to try your hand at pastels but been afraid to take that leap? Have you played with pastels in the past and felt like you didn’t know what to do with them? Well here is your chance. This is the first beginners class I have taught in years, so why not dive in with me for 4 days of introduction to this incredible medium of pastel! I will begin by discussing what the medium is, how it’s used, the different types of pastels, and the supporting materials to paint on to get you off on the right footing. Once you have an understanding of the medium itself, I will provide images to you and guide you through the process of mark-making and creating a painting!

This class requires that you supply your own materials. I will provide a very specific list of materials to get, so that you can have your very best experience. Materials can make or break your “happy place.” I will not have student supplies on hand, so adherence to the list is critical for your success. This class is for beginner pastelists with little to no experience and for those of you who are rusty and need to reboot your pastel prowess!
