What’s Your Trail Name? with Brandon Wert – G25070212
What’s Your Trail Name? A Ghost Ranch Hiking Adventure for Experienced and Aspiring Through-Hikers.
This course is designed to be strenuous. Participants should be comfortable with 7.5-12 mile walks over rough terrain and open country (route finding), single event elevation gain of 3,000+ feet, and remote backcountry settings many miles/hours from rescue. Our first day will consist of the Trifecta: Chimney, Box and Kitchen in a day. This series of 3 shorter shake down hikes will allow participants along with instructors to have a conversation around the advisability of each person’s readiness for the four hiking challenges to come. Please see the welcome letter for contact information if you would like to discuss your readiness for a workshop of this intensity.
The following four days will consist of increasingly challenging hikes to remote areas of the ranch and the National Forests to the North (Carson NF) and South (Santa Fe NF). Each day will begin with packing a sack lunch after breakfast, overview of the day’s hike and setting forth. We anticipate being out all day. If all goes well and according to plan we will return to the ranch for 5pm dinner. Participants should expect to carry everything they will need with them for the entire day: Sack lunch and/or favorite trail calories, extra layer of clothing (fleece/rain gear) headlamp, whistle, at least 4 liters of water. Staff may elect to adjust the daily schedule according to changing/challenging weather.
