Painting the Ghost Ranch Desert at Casa Del Sol with Michelle Chrisman – G25060401
Our online booking system is down. Please call 505.685.4881 or 505.685.1019 to register for this workshop. We apologize for the inconvenience.
Landscape is a year-round inspiration, especially among the Red Rocks and Aqua Chamisa that were cherished subjects of the well-known artist, Georgia O’Keeffe. Ms. O’Keeffe lived at Ghost Ranch and in Abiquiu for most of her later life, and it inspired countless of her paintings. We will explore the Ranch, taking photos and doing small field studies; we will take these back to the classroom and them into larger paintings.
Whether you are a beginning painter or advanced (and all are welcome), this workshop will help you create dramatic compositions with simplified shapes and color values. Michelle Chrisman lives in Taos, NM and is a long-time plein air painter of Northern New Mexico. Michelle is an oil painter, with an emphasis on painting with palette knives to achieve an impasto affect. However, all painting mediums are welcome and encouraged!
Our lodging will be in the historic Casa del Sol Hacienda. This is an opportunity to paint in the restricted area of Ghost Ranch where Georgia O’Keefe lived and did most of her important and iconic paintings.
