This is a class for people who have already taken an introductory watercolor class. The Intermediate class will give students a chance to learn more advanced techniques. We will be using salt, alcohol, sea sponges as well as candle wax to find new ways to create the wide array of textures we see at Ghost Ranch. We’ll learn about gum arabic and oxgall and how to control how easily the paint can be lifted out or stain the paper. Also, we will learn how to use masking fluid to keep areas of our painting white.

All of these techniques will help us to capture the stunning play of light and shadow on the colorful Ghost Ranch mountains.
