James O’Connell will transport guests back to the 1850s as he demonstrates tintype photography. Tintype is a complex photographic technique resting one of a kind images on metal, and over the course of an hour James will walk guests through each step of the process and create a one of a kind 8×10 landscape on location.  James will explain the chemical reactions of the process, explain how to assess exposure, and give historic and modern context for tintypes today. Guests are welcome to watch the mesmerizing process unfold in front of them, ask questions, and one lucky participant will win the raffle for the tintype landscape made during the demonstration. Travel back in time with James to when photography was a conduit for magic and rediscover the joy of chemical photography.
