    Lisa Trujillo

Lisa Trujillo, an award-winning weaver from Chimayo, NM, is known for her work in the Rio Grande weaving tradition, her spinning and dyeing, and for her stunningly unique designs. She and her husband, Irvin Trujillo, a National Heritage Fellow and Spanish Market Lifetime Achievement Award recipient, own Centinela Traditional Arts weaving co-op. Lisa Trujillo learned to weave after marrying Irvin in 1982. She has spent the years since then immersing herself in learning traditional design systems as well as finding new ways to use traditional techniques and materials. She has become adept at spinning churro wool quickly into a yarn ideally suited for her richly-textured tapestries and blankets. Her occasional weaving workshops have helped her develop teaching materials that she hopes to eventually make available beyond just her workshop students.
