Color and Composition with Juliana Crownover – G24080204

Aug 09 – 11 2024

Learn to use bold color and strong composition in your art. Would you like for the color in your art to sing? Would you like to learn to use bold color in your art and keep it from looking like a child’s playroom? Would you like to know how to confidently use composition based on value in every painting?  This will be a fast paced, fun worship and you will leave with several small studies! We will work in a variety of water based paint and collage; much of this will be up to you.

Please wear bold colors! Learning to use bold color will make you more confident in your art making and wearing it will add more joy to our workshop environment.

Instructor

  • Juliana Crownover

Juliana Crownover is an award-winning pastelist who has been painting in pastels for over 20 years and teaching for 10 years. She has a BA from Austin College in biology, art, and environmental studies. A member of the Southwest Pastel Society, she describes her passion this way: “In my own art, I use light and color to bring out beauty in everyday life, whether that is a trail I have hiked 100 times, or my son hanging laundry on a line. In that way I use my art as a reminder of where to find beauty all around us, and to slow down in our daily lives so that we may see it. In my classes I strive to create a balance that allows enough freedom so that students can create their own art, and enough direction to ensure success. Aside from the end-goal of finished art, I think the process should be enjoyed, and I work hard to create an environment that allows for that.”
