 OUR LODGING OPTIONS

COVID NOTE- At this time only a limited number of overnight accommodations are available. RV and tent amping are available.
Visit our Covid-19 page for details on restrictions and updates.

Ghost Ranch offers rustic lodging accommodations that are reflective of its origins as a working ranch. Overnight lodging rates include breakfast daily. Other meals may be purchased when available.

Our rooms are basic – no frills – which allows you to focus on the natural beauty of the land and to delve fully into your personal retreat space, getaway or workshop. While basic, our rooms are clean and comfortable and offer breathtaking views of the colorful vistas, sandstone cliffs, cottonwoods and distant mountains. At this time, daily maid service is not available.

Cell phone service is limited and WIFI access is available only at certain spots around the ranch. We suggest you bring a credit card if you need to make long-distance calls.

When you book a stay at the ranch, lodging rooms are within walking distance to public buildings. You are also close to the Dining Hall, Library, Museums and other structures via non-paved roads but getting around is physical. Please do, however, expect loose gravel and uneven terrain. If you think you might need a golf cart, there are a few available for rent with advanced reservations.

Room with Shared Bath

Main Ranch Level
These spacious, comfortably appointed rooms sit in the historical sections of Ghost Ranch, most are close to the Dining Hall and Library, with a few behind Corral Block. These older units each have a bedroom with two beds (a double + twin, or two twin beds), a dresser, a nightstand with a lamp, a chair and a closet. Every room shares a bath with an adjoining room; the bath is located between the two rooms – remember Jack and Jill bathrooms?  In a few units, two rooms also share a sitting area. Some rooms sleep up to three people. A limited number is available.

Room with Communal Bath

Dorm rooms with a communal bath down the hall or in another building reflect the history and dude ranch culture of Ghost Ranch’s past. Multiple bunk beds and very simple furnishings keep them among Ghost Ranch’s most affordable options.

Main Ranch Level with Communal Bath
A few rooms on the main level sleep up to seven or eight people and are perfect for groups. Some rooms have a closet, dresser, chair and desk; others have closets and sofas. Large communal bathrooms and showers are located outside, a few steps down a breezeway or covered porch.

Mesa Level with Communal Bath
Mesa units, very rustic, have one bedroom with two beds (2 sets of bunks, or a twin + bunk bed) and a dresser, chair, shelf, mirror and reading lamp. Many rooms have a sink. Shared baths with a sink and a toilet are located in each building down the breezeway. Showers are located in nearby buildings. These units sleep up to three people. Some buildings have a central lounge area with large screen windows that have stunning views.

Tent Camping

Ghost Ranch’s most affordable housing option, the camping sites are nestled in a canyon surrounded by red rocks. The Campground has facilities for tent camping, with or without electricity. Most sites have a table and a fire ring (campfires are permitted only when weather conditions allow), and only a very limited number have shade. The communal bathhouse is equipped with an ice machine, shared refrigerator, showers, sinks and coin-operated laundry. There is a 10-20 minute walk to the Dining Hall and meeting rooms.

DETAILS
The Campground is open year-round. The communal bathhouse is closed from late October to May but there are alternative sites for bathrooms and showers available. We recommend making reservations for a camp space in advance, however, specific sites are not pre-assigned, nor may specific sites be reserved in advance. Meal tickets may be purchased in the Welcome Center or at the Dining Hall; meals in the Dining Hall will not be served to campers without a ticket.

Campers should check in at the Welcome Center first, and then with the Campground Host.

Casa del Sol Retreat House

Ghost Ranch has several gathering spaces for spiritual retreats. Our staff will work with you to provide suggestions to fit your specific needs.

Casa del Sol
Located two miles from main Ghost Ranch main campus, Casa del Sol is a retreat space at Ghost Ranch dedicated to deeper spiritual contemplation. Certain retreats lend themselves to an intimate group and setting. Casa del Sol is a single story adobe home built in the mid-1930s with bedrooms that open up to a shared plaza. Meetings are held in the living room which is anchored by a large picture window overlooking Cerro Pedernal. The home and garage, which was recently converted to three hermitages, is set at the base of the multi-colored 700-foot tall cliff wall with a chimney feature standing guard. A heart shaped labyrinth is off to the side, bordered by prayer ties and flags fastened to sagebrush. Space is limited to 12-15 in this intimate setting.

PERFECT FOR...

Casa del Sol is the perfect setting for individual, silent and/or guided retreats. The retreat house, two miles away from main Ghost Ranch facilities, provides a peacefully quiet space amidst a spectacular desert panorama. Casa del Sol, which house up to 14 people, has a spacious common room with fireplace, a full kitchen and simple sleeping rooms. Groups staying at Casa del Sol may choose to travel the two miles to the Ghost Ranch Dining Hall for meals or may bring their own food.

Casa del Sol is perfect for:

  • Session planning for a new year
  • Small committees from congregations and parishes that need a place away to plan and pray together
  • Guided or unguided group or individual retreats – a spiritual advisor is available upon request for an additional fee.
