Housekeeping

Ghost Ranch is a retreat destination of choice for people around the country to come to relax, reconnect and be revitalized. In order to maintain our high standards of creating the best experience for our guests, we currently have several openings for reliable housekeepers. We are looking for candidates that have an excellent work history; have an attention for detail, are team players and have a work ethic of going above and beyond. The primary responsibility of this position is to perform the necessary housekeeping and cleaning duties of all Ghost Ranch facilities to promote an exceptional guest and visitor experience.

To be a part of our outstanding team the Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Clean, sweep, mop and dust: all guest room accommodations; meeting room and public facilities; administrative office spaces on a regular basis.
  • Assist in the set-up of meeting room facilities for guest and staff use, as needed.
  • Communicate to Housekeeping Supervisor and/or Maintenance Department, any needed repairs to facilities.
  • Follow required procedures for handling chemicals and cleaning.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Make beds and provide fresh towels in the guest rooms.
  • Communicate with other departments as to facility and accommodation.
  • Proactively work for the environmental sustainability of Ghost Ranch.
  • Assist with the Ghost Ranch laundry.
  • Maintain a safe, effective and orderly work environment.
  • Prepare guest rooms thoroughly, yet quickly, while maintaining standards of high quality.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Education/Experience/Skills/Physical Requirements

Education/Experience
High School Diploma or GED or six months related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Work Schedule
Non-exempt, full-time, 40 hours per week, flexible scheduling. Weekend and/or overtime hours may be required to meet the needs of the organization

Physical requirements/working conditions

  • Must be able to lift 25 – 50 pounds frequently throughout the work shift
  • Must be able to spend the majority of the day walking over rough terrain (which includes mud, dirt, rocks, dips in walking path), climbing steps, twisting, bending, pushing/ pulling and
  • Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions.

Required License/Certification: Valid driver’s license.

Guest Services

Guest Services Job Description – download the pdf

Duties include: 

  • Provide quality guest services to all visiting Ghost Ranch;
  • Take reservations and payments for overnight stay guests and Ghost Ranch opportunities: Tours, Water Front, Bodyworks, Yoga, Horseback Riding, etc.
  • Communicate to guests the mission of Ghost Ranch, and use of facilities.
  • Maintain control of room reservations for overnight stay guests.
  • Maintain inventory of name tags, room and trail maps, and all brochures.
  • Operate and maintain the postal and mail needs of Ghost Ranch.
  • Maintain control and tracking of Ghost Ranch vehicle & AV storage keys.
  • Work in conjunction with all departments to facilitate guest arrival.
  • Has accountability and balance of front desk cash drawer.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Applicants must exhibit excellent phone and communication skills. Must be prompt, timely and possess time management skills. Must be organized, self-motivated, reliable and attention-to-detail oriented. Must be able to effectively communicate and work with other departments and staff. Computer competency required with proficiency in Microsoft Office software systems; knowledge of Point-of-Sale and Maestro systems a plus. Applicants should be able to operate office equipment: cash drawer, credit card machine, copier, fax machine, postage machine, etc.

High school diploma or GED required with post high school education preferred. Position is full-time, non-exempt, 40 hours per week with weekend and holiday scheduling.

Food Services

Sous Chef and Cook/Food Prep Food Services Job Description- download the pdf. 

The primary responsibilities of this position are to follow company safety and sanitation policies and procedures in the preparation of food and promote an exceptional guest and visitor dining experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Meal preparation and service. Ensures food is prepared according to the recipe, is displayed in an attractive manner, and is ready 15 minutes prior to commencement of mealtime. Ensures: a.) food line remains full and clean throughout mealtime. B.) food is labeled correctly on serving line c.) food is plentiful and at proper temperature d.,) salad bar remains stocked and clean during meal times.
  • Ability to prepare food for large groups of people.
  • Confirm food deliveries are properly inventoried and stored with newer items used in proper rotation with supplies on hand. Certifies invoices are correct to order and turned into management within 24 hours.
  • Ensure all staff are recording items in need of re-order following guidelines set by management
  • Responsible to ensure Dining Hall is opened and closed properly, depending on shift, according to guidelines set by management.
  • Make certain Dining Hall remains clean during meal service. Ensures kitchen and dish room remain functional and clean. Responsible for cleaning grease traps and ensuring equipment is in good working order. Any issues are reported within 24 hours to management.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Uniform is clean and in good condition at all times.
  • Responsible to be on time and when scheduled.
  • Assist Kitchen Supervisor or other kitchen employees as requested.
  • Proactively work for the environmental sustainability of Ghost Ranch resources.
  • Maintain a safe, effective and orderly work environment.
  • Ability to work well with others and be hospitable with guests.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Education/Experience/Skills/Physical Requirements:

  • Education – High School Diploma or GED.
  • Experience – Six months related experience as a cook or an assistant cook.
  • Skills – Must have knowledge of food preparation, serving and kitchen procedures, including the ability to fry, boil, roast and cook proteins and vegetables.
  • Basic baking skills required. 
  • Proper knife skills, able to read and multiply recipes. 
  • Cook for large groups and prepare foods for distinct groups and those with special needs such as vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free.

Physical requirements/working conditions:

  • Must be able to lift 25 – 50 pounds frequently throughout the work shift
  • Must be able to spend the majority of time standing, twisting, bending, pushing/pulling and kneeling.
  • Hand/Finger dexterity.
  • Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions.

Work Schedule:

  • Non-exempt: Part-time, full-time positions available.
