From Grief to Joy with Angela Williams Gorrell – G26010203

Date

Jan 11 – 17 2026

When you’ve been through deep loss, burnout, or heartbreak, joy can feel impossibly far away. This retreat offers a gentle, soul-centered space to rest, reflect, and begin to feel again, without pressure to be “okay.”

Whether you’re grieving someone or something, navigating a hard season, or simply feeling disconnected from yourself, this retreat is a sacred pause. It’s a place to exhale, to let your heart catch up with your life, and to remember that joy is still possible.

Over five restorative days, you’ll be invited into healing practices drawn from my book, The Gravity of Joy, including reflective journaling, poetry meditation, silence, sacred ritual, story-sharing, and music. We’ll explore the real texture of grief and joy, not as opposites, but as companions. You’ll be surrounded by beauty, held in community, and reminded that you’re not alone.

You’ll leave with:

  • A Way out of Pain
  • A renewed sense of aliveness and possibility
  • Permission to carry both grief and joy
  • Practices to stay open to joy in daily life
  • Deep rest and soul-level encouragement
This is not a retreat where you’ll be asked to move on or fix yourself. This is a space to be human. A
space to begin again, with tenderness, meaning, and hope.

WHEN PEOPLE AND ORGANIZATIONS REACH A THRESHOLD MOMENT, THEY COME TO ME.

Over seventeen years and counting, I’ve led transformational retreats, workshops, 1:1 sessions, and trainings across the U.S. and in twelve other countries.

When individuals are seeking help with a work or life transition, wanting to lead or live in a way that feels more significant, making a difficult personal decision, or needing support with healing after a heartbreaking experience, they contact me.

I’ve taught at five institutions of higher learning including Yale and Baylor University and also for a number of programs for non-degreed learners such as Berkeley Divinity School and Danbury Correctional Facility.

I have written three books: Always On, The Gravity of Joy, and Braving Difficult Decisions. My research has been featured in The New York Times, NPR, and The Washington Post.

With a Ph.D. and 24 years of experience mentoring, teaching, and leading change, whenever you’re ready, I’m here to help.
