Hardcore Hiking and Mindfulness with Jesse Fisher – G24070309
This class will be a unique blend of hiking with community building elements, mindfulness/yoga sessions, historical and geological information, and a sense of youthful play. We will be delving into what it means to hike hard to see amazing rock formations, expansive views, quiet places, all while being receptive to the stories of our fellow hikers and exploring how the desert’s magic can inspire change in us all. All hikes will be (at minimum) starting at an elevation of about 6,000ft or more. Most hikes will range between 3-6mi, but all will incorporate some challenging elements. Adjustments will happily be made if people feel uncomfortable, or need a break from longer, harder days to rest the legs.
Please consider this adventurous class if you are willing to:
– hike up to 8mi in one day
– comfortable with steep, crumbly, loose sandstone terrain
– okay with exposed rock ledges; heights
– able to scramble up short ledges (using hands and feet to climb vertical/semi-vertical sections

Jesse FisherI first came to the ranch when I was 6 months old, and I’ve visited every summer since then! The desert became my second home, and after 22 years of growing up in Colorado, it is now my soul’s home. All of my collegiate summers were spent on the Summer College Staff at Ghost Ranch, and they were some of the best times of my life. I truly fell in love with Ghost Ranch surrounding areas, and as I’ve gotten older found a passion for the geology of the desert. I have worked in various roles at Ghost Ranch, and I am happy to bring all that experience into our adventures! Currently, I have been a professional outdoor guide of 4+ years at the ultra-luxury resort of Amangiri, near Lake Powell, Utah, living out my dream of continuously exploring the desert in various ways!
