Racism remains a significant barrier to building truly inclusive multiracial, multicultural community in our lives, our neighborhoods and our churches. This course will draw on the tools of antiracism training to offer a time for dialogue and discovery, as well as Bible study and discernment focused on understanding the ways that racism continues to shape our lives. We will explore resources and strategies to build community through dismantling racism and celebrate the amazing diversity of God's family!

Teresa Chávez Sauceda, San Francisco, CA The Rev. Teresa Chávez Sauceda, Ph.D., currently works as a freelance theologian -- preaching, teaching and writing on issues related to racial justice, building beloved community and Latino/a theology in the U. S. Teresa brings experience as a trainer and facilitator in antiracism training and cultural proficiency, working in the San Francisco Bay area, which she calls home, and in the PC(USA) with national organizations, middle governing bodies and local congregations. She received her M.Div. from Austin Theological Seminary and her Ph.D. in Religion and Society at the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley, CA.

Dr. David Bowie, Atlanta, GA Dr. David B. Bowie, D.Min., pastor of Rice Memorial Presbyterian Church in Atlanta, has served two racially diverse congregations since his ordination in 1983. He understands that his call is to multi-cultural ministry, and has served in diverse settings for 18 of his 26 years. His travels to Latin America served to deepen his desire to cultivate vital cross-cultural relations. After participating in an Anti-racism training retreat in Cleveland, Ohio in 1999, David became a national trainer with the PC(USA) Office for Racial Justice & Advocacy, and has facilitated or co-facilitated training events on both coasts, in Arizona, Kentucky, Louisiana, New Mexico and Texas.
