Come and join Ghost Ranch Jan Term students this Saturday,
January 12th for a day of cultural honoring and celebration. We will learn about and practice making regional food favorites in the traditional ways while listening to local musical artist Cipriano Vigil. Lunch is provided. Following lunch, watch the Lightning Boy Hoop Dancers perform. We hope to see you there!
Begin by working with the horno (traditional adobe wood-burning oven) and bread dough at 7:00 a.m. in the Dining Hall. Baking begins around 9:00 a.m. Friends from Jemez Pueblo will guide our learning and baking.
10:00 a.m. Choose one of two stations in the Dining Hall
10:30 a.m. Listen to Cipriano Vigil and his children as they share their northern New Mexico music
12-1:00 p.m. Lunch in the Dining Hall, posole and tamales
Following lunch, the Lightning Boy Hoop Dancers will perform in the field (Convocation Hall if weather is poor).
