Horseback Trail Rides

The O’Keeffe Landscape Trail Ride Tour is for riders of all levels! You will ride out to the area where Georgia O’Keeffe found her inspiration, completed several paintings and owned a home. The ride begins with an introduction and preview of examples of her work followed by a trail ride into the restricted area of Ghost Ranch where you see through your own eyes the actual locations of Georgia O’Keeffe’s paintings. The shining red and yellow cliffs of the Piedra Lumbre, the black trails of waterfalls against canyon walls, and her beloved Pedernal Mountain, interwoven with stories of her fifty years at Ghost Ranch.

Archaeology Tour

April 13 through October 19, Wednesday at 10:00 a.m.

Join us for a walking tour to archaeological sites on our 21,000 acre property. There are two site currently being excavated: One rock-shelter site dating back 8,000 years and the second that dates bact 2,000 years. Both sites have been the focus of excavation for seminar groups for several years. Dr. Florence Hawley Ellis spent many years at Ghost Ranch teaching, excavating and cataloging discoveries from the area. Our anthropology museum bears Dr. Ellis’ name and includes artifacts from several different indigenous tribes who have lived and hunted in this area.

Paleontology Tour

April 16 through October 22, Saturday 10:00 to 11:30 a.m.
$29 Adults, $19.00 Children & Students (ages 5-17)

This tour focuses on Triassic fossils discovered here at Ghost Ranch. Coelophysis, the New Mexico state fossil, was found here in 1947. Get a chance to step back in time geologically and historically to better understand the significance of this famous dinosaur discovery. We drive and then walk to the Coelophysis quarry site, a National Natural Landmark, and learn about the story told by the colorful geologic strata of the Ranch. After your visit to the quarry, you will have a personal tour of the museum exhibits, and a visit to the paleontology lab to look at new fossil discoveries.

Movie Site Tour

Movie Tours are available by request only. Contact to schedule.

Available Monday – Thursday, April 1st through October 31st  — other days by special arrangement.
Minimum of 4 guests ($50 X 4 = $200), maximum of 8 guests.

Cost: $50 per person
Ticket sales are processed through our ticket sales agent, HoldMyTicket. The processing fee will be added to your ticket purchase.

Allow 1 ½ hours to have a look at the sites of movies filmed here at Ghost Ranch. Visit the sites of movies filmed here at Ghost Ranch including Cowboys and Aliens, 3:10 to Yuma, The Missing, Comanche Moon, Georgia O’Keeffe, City Slickers, Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull, Wyatt Earp and Silverado. One mile of walking. Limited to #8 guests.

We have wonderful rustic accommodations. Anyone can come and spend the night. You don’t have to be Presbyterian and you don’t have to be part of a group, workshop or conference. Overnight Stay

Ghost Ranch offers rustic, comfortable housing accommodations reflective of its origins as a working ranch. Our rooms are basic, no frills, but clean and comfortable with magnificent views. All units provide breathtaking vistas of colorful sandstone cliffs, cottonwoods, and distant mountains. After sundown, our expansive skies offer dazzling panoramas of the planets and stars without pollution of city lights.
