New Mexico is a land of haunting loveliness… travel away from the land and our hearts are drawn back to its beauty, its serenity, and its mystery. The earliest dwellers of these magical valleys believed that the land and its people are as one—the land is a part of us and we become a part of the land. Whatever your spiritual beliefs, the Camposanto Wall is a place of remembrance for all who have loved this land. You will know that you are on holy ground as you rest in this place and contemplate life’s blessing. Camposanto is set against the majestic red rocks of Box Canyon. As they reach towards the sky, the Camposanto Wall is a sacred place dedicated to the memory of those who have loved Ghost Ranch. Camposanto, or “holy field”, is used throughout the world as a term for burial grounds.
The Camposanto Wall
This remembrance of the past honors individuals who have placed Ghost Ranch in their will, are members of the Chimney Rock Society or who wish to make a memorial gift on behalf of themselves or a loved one. While no request for a memorial plaque will be denied to any friend of the Ghost Ranch, we ask that families consider a minimum gift of $700.00, $500 of which will be placed in the Chimney Rock Endowment Fund. Only interest income from the fund can be spent. If an advanced gift has been made, that may be considered the family’s donation. The remaining $200 will go towards the cost of the plaque.
Each memorial bronze plaque set measures four by six inches and notes the name and dates of birth and death. Nearby spaces may be reserved. The plaque’s location with a dedication and biography is recorded in a memorial book stored in the Ghost Ranch archives. Ghost Ranch will be responsible for ordering all plaques to ensure uniformity.
