Frida Kahlo was influenced by the Mexican retablo and ex-voto folk art traditions. Explore her work and influence on other artists by creating narrative paintings based on personal and family stories, social and political events, and transformative life experiences. Participants will summarize their stories, practice simple drawing and composition exercises, and mix acrylic paints and mediums to create colorful paintings on wood and metal surfaces. No painting or artistic experience is necessary. All are welcome.
