Open use of silversmith and lapidary jewelry studio, with optional silversmith and lapidary coaching and instruction. For experienced students who already have basic silversmith skills and wish to work independently. Studio work will be supplemented by demonstrations, discussions and guest instructors. Lapidary and silver channel inlay instruction will be provided to interested students. Students will leave the class with wearable jewelry art. The fully-equipped Ghost Ranch jewelry studio provides a wonderful opportunity for students to learn the skills and techniques of advanced silver jewelry-making in a beautiful location with a long history in the creative arts. Ghost Ranch is a place of beauty and serenity that nurtures the creative spirit with a lengthy history in the creative arts. Silversmith students come away from this class with unimagined creations, a proud sense of accomplishment, and a personal connection to the arts of the Southwest. The studio is equipped with all the needed tools, supplies and equipment. Students may bring their own hand-tools, stones, and silver supplies, if desired. Sliver will be used in class projects and can be purchased at the studio. Students should expect to spend between $50 – $150 on silver for the week ? this cost is NOT included in the class fee. Learning Outcomes: – Students will learn basic skills in cutting, setting, grinding and polishing semi-precious stones for lapidary work. – Students will learn silver channel bracelet construction for stone inlay – Students will learn to safely use lapidary tools: trim-saw, flat-laps, genies, and other polishing tools – Students will acquire confidence in their creative abilities and skills – Students will create wearable and sellable jewelry art General Workshop Hours: The class schedule is 9-noon and 1-3:30. For those who are interested, the studio will also be open in the late afternoon and evening, though participation in other Ranch activities is also encouraged. Ghost Ranch is a wonderful place to visit with many things to do and many places to explore! Supply List Requested by Instructor: The studio is fully equipped with all the needed tools, supplies and equipment. Students may bring their own hand-tools if they have them, but please make sure they are labeled with the student?s name. If students have stones they would like to use, please bring them along, too. NOTE: Students will be required to purchase the silver used in the class. We will have all the needed sliver available for purchase at the studio. PLEASE NOTE: Students should expect to spend between $50 – $150 on silver for the week ? and this cost is NOT included in the class fee.

Please note that our workshop price structure packages your tuition, course materials, lodging and meals together in a single rate. Prices are presented for each of the types of lodging available for the workshop you select. Some art workshops will have an additional list of course materials and supplies that can be purchased or you will be asked to bring with you.
  • Note:  Some courses (especially studio courses and plein air painting courses) can carry an additional material list or expense.
All rates are Per Person, Double Occupancy unless otherwise specified. Single Occupancy: Single occupancy rooms may be reserved for an additional $50 per night when space is available. The fee will be charged when space is confirmed. Single occupancy lodging is generally not available during June and July. If you are a single person and do not specify a roommate, a roommate of the same gender will be assigned to share your lodging space or you can request the single occupancy and be charged the supplement of an additional $50 per night (based on availability).
