Sep 27 – 30 2025

Calligraphy is one of the most significant artistic expressions in many great civilizations. More than just writing, it conveys meaning through text and form, inspiring viewers to read or reflect on the layers of meaning within each stroke, letter, and composition. This workshop offers participants an introduction to Arabic script calligraphy, exploring its traditional tools, materials, letterforms, and fundamental principles of composition.

Participants will learn how calligraphy combines art and language, gaining hands-on experience with essential techniques. The workshop will also include a special visit to Dar al Islam, a cultural and educational complex designed by the world-renowned architect Hasan Fathy. This visit will provide insight into the architectural beauty and artistic heritage that complement the essence of calligraphy.
