Timothy Slemmons

Timothy Matthew Slemmons is Associate Professor of Homiletics and Worship at the University of Dubuque Theological Seminary. A past recipient of the David H. C. Read Preacher/Scholar Award (1994), he has served Presbyterian congregations in PA and NJ. His research interests include the discourses of Kierkegaard, and the neo-orthodox, dialectical stream of homiletics that may be traced to him (Groans of the Spirit). In Year D, Slemmons has proposed a constructive response to the deficiencies in the Revised Common Lectionary, while his now complete 4-volume series of Liturgical Elements for Reformed Worship includes Greater Attention, Year D. Inspired as much by his late father’s children’s stories as by the Christmas sermons of David H. C. Read, Slemmons has published two illustrated story books for an intergenerational readership: A Phenomenal Llama: A Tall Christmas Tale for Children of All Ages (2013) and The Secret of Salix Babylonicus: A Parable of the Weeping Willow (2014).
