Susan Daugherty, a native of Texas now living in New Mexico, has been fascinated by color and light for as long as she can remember. After many years of painting with oils and watercolor, Susan discovered her passion for pastels. Susan’s classes at Ghost Ranch combine some of what she considers the best things in life: art, teaching, and the unique beauty of the southwest landscape. Living in New Mexico and growing up as the daughter of a minister/artist has given Susan a special appreciation of the extraordinary light and colors in the high desert. She has studied with well-known pastel artists such as Elizabeth Mowry, Gil Dellinger, Bob Rohm, Sally Strand, Frank Federico, Desmond O’Hagen, Eric Michaels and others. Susan is an award-winning artist and signature member of the Pastel Society of New Mexico and the Sierra Pastel Society in California as well as an Associate Member of the Pastel Society of America. She is past president of PSNM and past executive director of the Artists’ Collaborative in Albuquerque. Sh Her works have been displayed at the Ghost Ranch Museum in Abiquiu, the Coriell Fine Art Gallery in Albuquerque, NM, the Mill Gallery Canyon Road in Santa Fe, NM, Art is O.K.
