Mita Saldana is the owner of Against the Grain Bookbindery located in the mountains outside of Albuquerque, New Mexico. She holds a BA from Columbia College Chicago and has been teaching the craft of hand bookbinding and the corresponding book related arts since 2000. For the past 20 years, she has been repairing and restoring books and paper ephemera, having the opportunity to work on anything from family Bibles, cookbooks, well-loved children’s books, maps, scrolls, and antique and rare collectible bindings. In between finding the time to do commissioned work and small editions. Mita is a founding member of Libros New Mexico Book Arts Guild and co-owner of New Tricks Workshop Space and Gallery in Old Town Albuquerque. Her other interests lie in embroidery and the fiber arts, collecting vintage linens, British comedy, zombies and her family. Not necessarily in that order.
