Gianne de Genevraye
Gianne de Genevraye, international painter, paints gardens in Europe and the United States. She exhibits widely and her work is seen in collections in France, Italy, Sweden and the United States. Born in California, she received her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree (Painting) at the University of California Irvine, studying under Judy Chicago, Tony Delap, Craig Kaufman and John Paul Jones. She was studio assistant to Jennifer Bartlett in France for three years. In 1990-91, she was an Invited Artist at the American Academy of Rome. In 2011, she painted and exhibited on site in the Château Bachiviller where Mary Cassatt lived and worked in France. In 2012, a painting residency and project In the Garden of Eden on site in the garden Jardin des Méditerranées at the Domaine du Rayol in the south of France. In December 2012, she exhibited a series of paintings at the historic vineyard Hospice du Clos Cristal, The Vine in Four Seasons. In 2013, a residency and exhibition at the Cultural Center of San Clemente in California. In 2014-15, a two-part residency at the Hortense Miller Garden in Laguna Beach, California, along with lectures and art talks. In Spring 2014, in residence at the Hanbury Botanic Gardens, the home of the Botanical chair of the University of Genoa, Italy. “Artist in Residence 2014 and 2015” for the city of Menton in the southern France, painting in the four municipal gardens.
