Elizabeth Dillon

Professor of English at Northeastern University where she teaches classes on early American and Atlantic world literature, including African American literature and gender studies. Her most recent book, New World Drama: The Performative Commons in the Atlantic World, 1649-1849 (Duke University Press, 2014), traces the way in which theatres served as important gathering places for the creation of new cultural “commons” in the eighteenth century.
