Devreaux Baker

Devreaux Baker’s awards include the 2017 Outermost National Poetry award, the 2019 and 2014 Barbara Mandigo Kelly Peace Poetry Prize from the Nuclear Age Peace Foundation, the 2011 PEN/Oakland Josephine Miles Poetry Award, three California Arts Council Awards to produce the National Public Radio Poetry Program of Original Writing from Students, K-12, the 2012 Hawaii Council on Humanities International Poetry Prize, and the 2010 Women’s Global Leadership Poetry Prize. She has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize and received Poetry Fellowships to the MacDowell Colony, the Hawthornden Castle, and the Helene Wurlitzer Foundation. She has published five books of poetry; Light at the Edge, Beyond the Circumstance of Sight, Red Willow People, Out of the Bones of Earth, and Hungry Ghosts. She has taught poetry workshops in France, Mexico and the United States, Poetry in the Schools through the California Poets In Schools Program, and directed the Mendocino Coast Poets Reading Series with funding from the James Irvine Foundation.
