Crea Lynn moved to Santa Fe in 1990 from Cape Cod, MA. She graduated from the School of Fashion Design in Boston with an Associates Degree in Fashion Design and has taken various art classes at the Art Institute of Boston and the New England School of Art and Design. After moving to Santa Fe she continued her education at Santa Fe Community College receiving another Associates Degree in Visual/Fine Arts. During the 1970’s, Crea first learned seed bead work – now also known as bead-weaving – from her daughter’s grandfather who was half Native American. In the 1980’s she learned bead stringing from a friend who was an amber dealer from the Dominican Republic. Her work is shown in galleries, artist markets and gift shops. The designs for her jewelry and beadwork are a creative experiential process of the interplay of color and texture. Crea is also a textile artist (Quilt Art), a painter (Mixed Media), a writer, a teacher and is a member of Studio Art Quilt Associates. Crea is currently an instructor at Ghost Ranch, Abiquiu, NM, teaching beadwork and jewelry making. “I believe that the pilgrimage of art is a soulful journey of sacred exploration, within and without.” Crea teaches private bead lessons in her studio.
