Amy Shutt

Amy Shutt has over a decade of formal photography experience. She currently specializes in nature, animal, and commercial photography in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. A published photographer, she also teaches various photography classes and workshops throughout the USA and beyond. When Amy is not shooting in the studio, her favorite things to photograph are flora, fauna, landscapes, and all things nature. She especially loves the swamps of Louisiana, the coast and deserts of California, and the savannas of East Africa. Amy’s interest in photography began at an early age. She loved Polaroid and disc cameras and received her first 35 mm camera, a Minolta SR-T 101 when she was 11 yrs old. She went on to major in photography in college but realized after a year that shooting for a grade was killing her passion. So, she switched her major to Philosophy, minored in Art History, and became a professional photographer. In 2014, Amy partnered with the world-renowned Audubon Nature Institute in New Orleans, LA, to develop and teach Basic, Advanced, and Specialized Photography Classes that focus on animal photography as well as conservation and animal education. She has gone on to lead classes at botanical gardens, nature institutes, natural science museums, and wildlife rehabilitation centers not only in Louisiana but also in Colorado, Texas, California, and Arizona. She is currently broadening her photography workshops to include photography tours in Africa and India.
