An Apprenticeship and a Cultural Immersion Experience

If you’ve ever dreamed of experiencing wide-open spaces, starry night skies, purple mountains, sage green mesas, and red rock formations, we invite you to spend your Jan Term at Ghost Ranch! 

Jan Term is an apprenticeship and a cultural immersion experience. Some say it’s like leaving the country without a passport. It includes cultural lectures and field trips to Santa Fe and Bandelier National Monument, as well as Ghost Ranch tours and offerings, culminating in the ultimate New Mexico cultural experience, a trip to the San Ildefonso Pueblo Feast Day Dances. Jan Term at Ghost Ranch is open to college and non-college students of all ages.

Arrival: Wednesday, January 2, 2020◊ Departure: Monday, January 20, 2020

While you study one subject intensively, you also immerse yourself in the multi-culture nature and stunning landscape of this 21,000-acre working Ranch in Northern New Mexico.

All courses provide an intensive study of the subject you choose. Class sizes are small, usually 12 or fewer students per instructor, allowing for individualized instruction and easy student to faculty interaction.

CREDITS, RATES & REGISTRATION INFO

College Student Rate:

$3100.00 (includes dorm-style lodging, meals, tuition, course materials, entrance to museums, venues and hot springs, and shuttle to and from the Albuquerque airport). Silversmithing includes an additional $200 materials fee; other materials will also be available for purchase.

Non-College Student Rates:

TBD. Please call our Registrars for more information on these rates as they become available.

Information & Registration

For those seeking college credit, please register through your school’s Jan Term office. For persons not seeking credit (which includes non-college participants of all ages), please contact the Ghost Ranch Registrar at 505.685.1001 or 1017.

What time should I arrive at Ghost Ranch on Tuesday, January 3rd?

You should arrive at the Ranch before 5:00 p.m. on January 2rd for opening orientation and dinner.

What are the transportation options to and from Ghost Ranch for Jan Term?

On January 3rd a shuttle will leave Albuquerque airport at 2:00 p. m. If you wish to take this shuttle your flight must arrive before this time. On January 24th a shuttle leaves Ghost Ranch for the airport at 8:00 a.m. Departing flights should be scheduled after 12:30 p. m. to assure that you have time to arrive at your flight on time. The cost for these shuttles is included in your tuition. Please indicate when you register if you wish to take the shuttle.

What is included in the tuition price for courses?

Prices for courses are inclusive of tuition fees, lodging and meals and transportation for the duration of Jan Term.

What is the lodging situation for non-college students enrolled in Jan Term courses?

Non-college students are given either shared bath and private bath lodging at the Ranch. There are two tiers of upgrade fees for non-college students taking Jan Term courses: $300 for double occupancy, $500 for single occupancy.

What are class times during Jan Term?

Classes occur Monday-Friday generally from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with weekends being reserved as a time to go on field trips to noteworthy areas on and around Ghost Ranch.

If I’m a non-college student, when should I make travel arrangements?

We ask that you do not make travel arrangements before November 2nd, 2019. You will be notified by that date on the status of your desired course.

Jan Term Cancellation Policy

Cancellation prior to November 1, 2019, no cancellation fee is applied.
Cancellation between November 1 and November 30, a charge of $500.00 is applied.
Cancellation between December 1 and December 31, a charge of $850.00 is applied.
Cancellation January 1, 2019 or after is subject to 100% loss of payment.
