O’Keeffe claimed that God told her if she painted it often enough God would give her Cerro Pedernal (Flint Mountain). And paint it she did. In this 1941-42 image, O’Keeffe captured the lovely colors of autumn as she might have viewed the Pedernal from the patio of her Ghost Ranch home.
