During the year, space is available for individuals and families. Hiking trails are open, the Library is available, and cultural, historic, and recreational sites are within easy day-trip range. 

Lodging

Our rooms are basic, no frills, but clean and comfortable with magnificent views. We hope you will enjoy your stay with us in this special place of red canyons, majestic mesas and amazing skies. The majority of rooms are double occupancy with dormitory style baths; single rooms are available on a limited basis with a supplemental charge.


Overnight lodging rates include breakfast in our Dining Hall, served cafeteria style, with choice of indoor or outdoor dining and vegetarian or nonvegetarian menu.

 

Meals other than breakfast -- Overnight guests, campers or day visitors may purchase meal tickets for lunch and/or dinner from the Main Office. Inquire about meal rates when making your overnight lodging reservation.

Overnight Lodging - 2010

None of our housing accommodations has air-conditioning (we are located at an altitude of 6500 feet), and only selected housing units have heat. Towels, sheets, pillows and blankets are provided for all rooms.

Mesa Housing is located uphill from the main Ranch campus. Access is by car or by a moderately steep switchback trail from the main Ranch campus level. The Dining Hall, Museums, Library, gift shops and most classrooms are on the Main Ranch level.


MESA LEVEL  Private Bath:  (avilable year round) Located uphill from the main Ranch campus, 1 bedroom (with 2 beds: either a queen + twin, or double + twin) with private bath. Bedroom includes a dresser, nightstand with lamp, chair & closet.  There is a short hike up and down a moderately steep trail to the dining hall and meeting rooms. Single and double occupancy available.

 

MESA LEVEL ~ Dorm-Style (Communal Bath):  (available  May to early October) Ghost Ranch's most affordable housing option. Located uphill from the main Ranch campus, 1 bedroom (with 2 beds: combination of 2 twin beds, twin + bunk bed, or 2 bunk beds) has dresser, chair, shelf & reading lamp. Many rooms have a bathroom sink. Communal bathrooms are located outside bedroom & accessed by exterior doorway in the same building. Communal shower facilities are located in nearby buildings. These are summer camp-style rooms; single & double occupancy available. Addtional person:  $10 (beyond two in a room) 

 

MAIN LEVEL ~ Private Bath: (available year round) Located on the main (lower) level of the Ranch campus, bedroom (with 2 beds: either a double + twin, or 2 twin beds) with private bath. Bedroom includes a dresser, nightstand with lamp, chair & closet. Some handicapped accessible rooms available. Single and double occupancy available.  

 

MAIN LEVEL ~ Semi-Private or Shared Bath:  (available year round) Located on the main (lower) level of the Ranch campus, bedroom (with 2 beds: either a double + twin, or 2 twin beds) and shared bath with an adjoining room. Bedroom includes a dresser, nightstand with lamp, chair & closet. Single and double occupancy available.

 

MAIN LEVEL ~ Dorm-Style Bath:  (available year round) One of Ghost Ranch's more affordable housing options. Located on the main (lower) level of the Ranch campus, bedrooms are either double occupancy (with 2 beds: combination of a double + twin, 2 twin beds, or double + bunk bed) or for groups of 3 - 5 people (combinatiuon of double + twin + bunk beds -- limited number available). Rooms generally have a closet, dresser, chair & desk. Communal bathrooms and shower facilities are located outside bedroom & accessed by an exterior doorway in the same building. Addtional person:  $10 (beyond two in a room) 

 

MAIN LEVEL ~ CAMPGROUND:  (Open from mid-May until early October) Campsites are not pre-assigned, nor may specific sites be reserved in advance. Meal tickets may be purchased in the Main Office; meals in the Dining Hall will not be served to campers without a ticket.

Campers should check in first at the Main Office, and then with the Campground Host. 

The Campground has facilities for tent camping, with or without electricity, and RV sites. An RV is defined as any motorized vehicle (van camper, pop-up trailer, motor home, 5th wheel, or truck camper). Please inform the Main Office of the total length of the vehicle, pllus any towed trailer or extra vehicles.

Water and a dump station are available at the Campground, but not necessarily at specific sites. Full hookup sites include water & a dump station at the site, and 30- and/or 50-amp electric hookups. There are only a small number of full hookup sites, available on a first come, first served basis.

Most sites have a table and a fire ring (campfires are permited only when weather conditions allow), and only a very limited number have shade. The communal bathouse is equipped with an ice machine, shared refrigerator, showers, sinks and coin-operated laundry. There is a 10-20 minute walk to the Dining Hall and meeting rooms. No pets are allowed in the campground (expcept for approved assistance animals).

Distances on the Ranch and other helpful information: There is a 5-10 minute walk from most rooms to the dining hall, library, museums and meeting rooms. We observe the honor system at Ghost Ranch and there are no locks on guest room doors. In addition, there are no phones, T.V. or radios in the rooms. Phones are available for guest use on the Ranch. Access for long distance calls is available with a phone card (bring your own or purchase one in the Trading Post). A computer with Internet access is available for guest use in the office. There are no pets (with the exception of assist animals) allowed on the Ranch.

Ghost Ranch Abiquiu is located in the high desert at 6,500 ft. Things you may find helpful to bring, especially during the summer season, include: sturdy walking shoes, backpack for carrying water and personal items or for hiking, small portable fan for your room, sunscreen, flashlight, comfortable clothes that can be layered, a hat, robe, rain gear, and a warm jacket or sweatshirt for the evenings.


Study Leave
The fine library and modestly priced accommodations at Ghost Ranch Abiquiu are available for individual study leave in fall, winter, and spring. Your reading, reflecting, and writing will be grounded in the serenity of the high desert landscape. Our librarian is happy to work with you in advance to see that the book resources you need will be available. Investment of your continuing education allowance at Ghost Ranch Abiquiu brings a dividend in refreshment for body, mind, and spirit. While stays of one or two weeks are usual, arrangements can be made for longer stays at attractive rates.
