Explore the unique surroundings at Ghost Ranch and find inspiration for a woven tapestry. This course will guide students of all levels through the design and weaving process, focusing on color and design theory as well as tapestry techniques such as angles, curves and color gradations. The design process will address questions of abstraction and simplification as tools for giving voice to the essential. All levels are welcome and students will be able to weave a small tapestry or a sampler for a larger tapestry using a floor loom.

Cornelia Theimer Gardella, El Rito, NM Born and raised in Germany, Cornelia's love for the Southwest, its landscapes, cultures and textile traditions brought her to northern New Mexico in 2005 to study traditional and contemporary tapestry weaving. While traditional Southwestern weaving has allowed her to explore the historic roots of this local tradition, it is contemporary tapestry weaving which now serves as an outlet for her creativity and artistic philosophy.
