Agape Center

AGAPE CENTER now open.

exterior_webDesigned by Lloyd and Associates of Santa Fe and built by Blue Sky Construction of Española as part of a $4.3 million capital campaign for Ghost Ranch begun in 2003, the center includes a Hearth Space and Courtyard for reading and quiet visiting and a sanctuary for worship. The sanctuary will also be available for a selective number of events that focus on the spiritual themes of nurture, discernment, peace and justice.

"Agape” is the word used by early Christians to refer to the special love for God, God’s love for humankind and the self-sacrificing love they believed all should have for one other. The term has most recently been associated with Christian and multi-faith organizations with commitments to a just and peaceful world. Ghandi used the concept in his nonviolent campaigns in India.

“Ghost Ranch strives to teach and embody `agape’ in all its life and programs,” says Rob Craig, Executive Director. “This center will provide a unique facility for workshops, education and fellowship, making `agape’ an even more powerful reality in our church and our world.”

Director's Update 2008

FROM THE INTERIM DIRECTOR

As you have probably heard, we will soon welcome a new Executive Director to Ghost Ranch. I have met Debra Hepler and have not only been impressed with her talents and abilities, but found myself being drawn to her by her quiet attentive manner, her eagerness to listen and to learn, her ready smile and her sense of humor. We are very fortunate indeed to be able to welcome Debra and her husband Jim to be with us at Ghost Ranch.

I have been the Interim Director for just about a year. In many, many ways it has been a wonderful year—I have enjoyed the support of staff at having a “lady leader”, the way in which staff members have been committed to our mission, to improving our services, and to changing the ways we work. The Governing Board, too, has been enthusiastic, patient and very supportive. As I leave this position, I feel very good about the state of the Ranch at both sites and about being able to “pass the baton” with confidence as we move into the future. I hope to go back to being a happy volunteer, for as with all of you, once we experience Ghost Ranch we are committed for life!

With love and best wishes,
Mary Ann Lundy
