Worship Opportunities
Application - Service dates are June 3-August 12, 2012
Ghost Ranch offers a variety of worship services. Morning Celtic meditation services are offered daily, as well as an intergenerational worship service right after breakfast most days. The Worship Coordinator works with groups and volunteers attending the various educational programs to plan and conduct the morning services. There is a weekly ecumenical communion service every Sunday in the Agape Center.
Living Space
We have a rustic, yet charming living area. Eight casitas serve as our bedrooms. They are small, duplex units of two rooms each, with two to three people sharing a room. They are summer-camp style accommodations with cement floors and bunk beds. One of the casitas is a community room with a fridge, microwave, television, DVD player, and a game table. The outdoor area in front of the casitas is another shared space where we enjoy gathering for Wednesday night check-in, campfires, sleeping under the stars, befriending wild rabbits, and taking in the view of Kitchen Mesa. Communal, gender-specific bathrooms and showers are nearby, and a laundry facility is also proximate to the casitas.
Driving Vehicles
Vehicles are not necessary for your 10-week stay at Ghost Ranch. While having your personal vehicle at the ranch this summer might be useful for occasional day trips and store runs, College Staffers are encouraged not to drive around the Ranch. This is important for two reasons:
- To contribute to the vehicle-free peace and calm of the ranch’s beautiful atmosphere; and
- To help keep all pedestrians and bikers safe (especially the children who are sometimes unsteady on their bikes, and are so difficult to see from a vehicle.)
If you are briefly driving a vehicle on the Ranch to reach a destination off the Ranch, you must observe the 5–15 m.p.h. speed limit, all stop signs, and safety precautions while on the Ranch campus.
May we suggest Pedal Power - here's to your health and the planet's. We also ask that bikers observe a safe speed when traveling downhill to protect pedestrians.
