Youth Service Corp and Youth Week for Junior & Senior High Students
Youth Service Corp - Work and Play at Ghost Ranch in Abiquiu
Each 2010 summer program week at Ghost Ranch, Monday to Sunday
Registration Fee for Mission Groups: weekly fee for each participant (includes housing and meals, registration and a Youth Service Corps T-shirt)
Project supplies and tools will be provided.
Are you part of a youth group that is interested in performing meaningful mission work in northern New Mexico communities? How about a teenager who will be visiting Ghost Ranch this summer with your family? If so, then join a crew of other young adults, sharing your talents, skills, and desires for helping others.
This coming summer, Ghost Ranch will bring back the Youth Service Corps! Each week, youth in junior and senior high-school will be working on meaningful projects both at the ranch and in the diverse surrounding communities. On the Ranch projects may include making the community farm come alive again; working on renewable energy initiatives that help combat global warming; and designing, repairing, and painting older buildings to give them a new look. Off the Ranch, your service will be just as significant and exciting and you’ll work side by side with people of diverse cultures and religious traditions that neighbor Ghost Ranch.
In addition to the important service performed, you’ll have the chance to meet new friends, learn about northern New Mexico’s unique culture, participate in worship, and take part in the spirit and beauty that makes Ghost Ranch such a magical place.
Youth Service Corps is intended for teenagers in junior and senior-high, either coming with their youth mission group or individuals visiting the ranch with their families as an alternative to youth programming. Each week, one can expect to work approximately 25 hours both on and off the Ranch. Participants will have plenty of time to participate in life at the Ranch including hiking, swimming, boating, and horseback riding as well as take in the spiritual and cultural practices of the surrounding area. Daily and Sunday worship will frame the experience. Two knowledgeable members of the college staff will plan and facilitate the weekly activities.

What some of last year's participants have said:
"What I got out of the week was life changing. . .breaking the boundaries to a whole new point of view of how I feel or relate to God and where I am in my journey."
"Before I came to Ghost Ranch I was different from what I am here, because before I was very shy. I'm now startaing to come out of my shell."
"The people that I met on this trip would inspire me to change my life forever."
