The high desert of northern New Mexico has been described as a thin place or as God’s fierce landscape, where the spiritual dimension is very close to that of the ordinary realities of the work-a-day world.  That is true in both the land and the people.  This pilgrimage experience provides opportunities to encounter both.  We will journey together to sites such as the White Place, beloved of Georgia O’Keeffe, and journey along the beautiful Chama River to the Monastery of Christ in the Desert.  The culmination of the week will be a journey to the healing shrine of Santuario de Chimayó.  Along the way we will meet and pray with friends from the Muslim (Sufi), Hispanic Catholic, Benedictine, and other spiritual communities.  The outward journey will be complemented by the inward as we join together in times of contemplative prayer and spiritual conversation.  And we will undoubtedly have some fun along the way as well.  The activities will include some moderately strenuous walks and hikes.

Ken Cuthbertson, Albuquerque, NM Ken is a Presbyterian minister from Albuquerque, and has worked as a spiritual director and retreat leader for the last decade.  He is a member of the advisory team for Ghost Ranch's Casa del Sol Spirituality and Retreat Center.

Wallace Ford, Albuquerque, NM  Wally is a retired Disciples of Christ minister, and former Exec of the NM Conference of Churches.  He has led spiritual retreats at Ghost Ranch for almost two decades.  He now divides his year between New Mexico and Canada's Prince Edward Island.
